Introduction and Acceptance
WATradersHub is a digital trade facilitation and trader identification platform created and operated by Cross Border Communications Consult and Africa TechnoLab that coordinates and collaborates with relevant government institutions, customs authorities, immigration services, traders’ associations, and other stakeholders to support the implementation of traders’ rights under applicable ECOWAS free movement and regional trade frameworks. The platform seeks to promote compliance with regional trade protocols, strengthen cooperation between traders and competent authorities, and reduce non-tariff barriers (NTBs) affecting cross-border trade in goods and the movement of persons across the ECOWAS Community.

These Terms govern your access to and use of the Platform, including trader registration, digital trader profiles, Trader ID services, verification, subscriptions and related trade information services.
- Description of Services
The platform works with recognised cross-border traders’ associations to register and verify eligible traders. The ECOWAS Card serves as a foundational identity document for the registration and verification process, subject to applicable requirements. Upon verification and approval through the relevant traders’ association, an eligible trader may be issued a WATradersHub digital Trader ID to facilitate trader identification, record management, communication, and access to relevant trade-related information and services.
The WATradersHub Trader ID is a supplementary digital identity and trade facilitation credential. It is not a replacement for the ECOWAS Card, passport, , other officially recognized national identity documents, customs declarations, permits, licenses, certificates, or any other documents required by competent authorities.
WATradersHub provide trader registration and profiling, Trader ID application and management, identity and association verification, trade information, training and business-support information, subscription services, stakeholder communication, and channels for reporting trade-related challenges. Specific features depend on the services actually enabled on the Platform.
- Eligibility and Registration
Applicants must be 16 years of age or older, possess a valid ECOWAS Card, and belong to a registered traders’ association in an ECOWAS Member State. Applicants must provide accurate information and undergo the required verification and approval process before a WATradersHub Trader ID is issued or activated
- Trader ID and Verification
A WATradersHub Trader ID supports the identification and verification of registered cross-border traders at border posts, helping authorized officials distinguish registered traders from other travelers and verify their identities more efficiently. It supports the implementation of applicable ECOWAS free movement and regional trade frameworks and aims to facilitate the movement of traders across borders. Issuance is subject to the required registration and verification process. Users must not lend, duplicate, alter, or misuse their Trader ID, QR code, card, or account credentials. Lost or compromised credentials must be reported promptly.
